Scared By The Sound of My Own Voice

Earlier today, I heard a loud voice coming from Nadia’s office—which is right next to my office—and initially I was startled because it was completely unexpected.  The sound also startled me because it was such an odd-sounding voice.  So, my knee-jerk reaction was to think, “Who is this strange, loud person in the other room?!?”

Within a few seconds I realized that the sound was coming from the speakers on Nadia’s computer.  I smiled.  Fortunately, it was not a deranged person, physically present, in the other room.

But those few seconds also provided enough time for me to recognize that the voice I was
hearing was a recording of me.  Now, I was laughing.  Yep, no kidding.  I was actually disturbed and slightly frightened by the amplified sound of my own voice.

This is beginning to explain the reaction that I, sometimes, receive.  And a few more pieces of the puzzle are falling into place.
