At the bookstore

Sometimes when Rachel and I are at the bookstore no words need to be spoken. Everything that needs to be communicated is effectively expressed through the look on our faces.

Along with a few subtle but eloquent hand gestures.

If you see joy, satisfaction and a stare that says, “Yep, I’m overflowing with happiness.”

…Then you are probably looking at a different photo.

Will we have work to do in heaven?

Finley went into her crate to take a nap.

So Rachel also went into Finley’s crate to take a nap.

Afterwards they both chased a rabbit and chewed on bones in the backyard.

Lucy's big, long sigh

One of our dogs, Lucy, is lying next to me and she just let out a long, loud sigh. I mean, a sigh that was much longer and much louder than usual.

It was almost as if she was trying to tell me, “Hey, it has been a rough day and it feels good to finally relax and get some much needed rest. Because, frankly, life can send us some significant and troubling challenges and they weigh heavily on the mind and spirit. And even though I’m just a dog I tire from the responsibilities and find in myself a desire to seek solace and respite in simple quiet-time and tranquility.”

Or, I suppose it may have just been a sigh.

You've received grace? ...Then be willing to extend grace to others.
