Sometimes, when I was young, I had the impression that God
was just waiting for me to make a mistake—almost hoping I’d mess up—so He could
punish me. Of course, I realize now that
that is not true. God doesn’t want us to
fail or make mistakes or do things that are wrong. However, it’s nice to know that when we do
mess up—which might just happen, occasionally—because of the work of Christ,
there is forgiveness, from a loving, gracious, merciful God.
