We have a very understandable impulse to want to numb
ourselves when we experience feelings such as sadness, pain, guilt,
vulnerability and fear. The problem with
numbing these types of feelings is that when we do so, it leads to numbing
positive feelings such as confidence, happiness, courage and joy, as well. Part of learning, growing and truly living
involves working—with God’s help—through the experience of all these feelings.
This blog contains comments and teaching regarding living the Christian faith and comments on the intersection of faith and many other aspects of life from pop culture to science. It also has some stories--hopefully they are amusing stories--from my life. ~Dan

Do Public Figures Ever Feel Embarrassed Anymore?
I’m not for making anyone feel unnecessarily guilty or
ashamed. That is not a good thing. But when people do things that are wrong
there should be a time during which they understand the reality of their
transgression and feel remorse for their guilt. Sometimes it feels to me as if
public figures are now completely incapable of being embarrassed by their own
shameful actions. That is not a good or
healthy thing, either.

There Is No Condemnation For Those In Christ
Sometimes we feel guilty because we’ve done something wrong. On the other hand, some of us are plagued by feelings of guilt even when we haven’t done anything wrong (at least, not recently). In either case, the answer is still the same: Turn to Christ. “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus…” Romans 8:1. Amen, to that truth!
