E-Flash From Dan, March 23, 2016

Dear E-Flash Friends;

We are geared up and excited here at the church. We’ve been having rehearsals in the evenings, people are praying, invitations are being extended, I’m still tweaking and honing an Easter message I pray will be interesting, helpful, inspiring, challenging and used by God. The time has almost arrived for our Easter services.

I know most of you are aware but I’ll mention the schedule again:

Good Friday service, March 25, 7pm

Easter services, Saturday, March 26, at 5pm and Sunday March 27 at 9 and 11am.

I’m already thanking God for the good things I know He is going to do!

Can you think of someone you might invite? Why not take a little risk and make an invitation. The worst that could happen is the person would say “no thanks.” The best that could happen is a person could potentially have a life-changing encounter with the risen Lord Jesus. Who knows?

I’m looking forward to seeing you this weekend.

He is risen!

Love and blessings,

Dan

P.S. We created an Easter invitation video. It’s humorous and fun. Click on the link to watch. Perhaps you could pass this along to a friend.

Thinking About Jesus' Death

The way Jesus died is horrific.

The fact that He had to die for things I have done is sad, upsetting and, even, embarrassing.

That’s why I am so thankful the larger story is one of Good News and hope!

Today we think about Jesus’ death. It is right for us to do this; it is a necessary part of knowing and understanding the story. But even as we ponder the sad realities of this day, we know that Sunday is coming.

I am grateful that for those who trust in Christ even the somberness of Good Friday is entered into with the knowledge that there is, ultimately, hope, joy and… Victory!

Thinking About The Unpleasant Truths of Good Friday

It is difficult to think about the details of Jesus’ torture and execution.  When I do take the time to consider these realities I’m usually inclined to think, “It’s not fair!  He was innocent!!!”

This is true and, of course, it is part of the point of the matter.

Even though it can be unpleasant I will ponder this aspect of Jesus’ life today.  It is an important part of the whole story.  Fortunately, however, even as I think about these painful truths, I do so with the knowledge that Sunday is coming.

The Pain of the Cross, Because of His Love

There is Someone who was willing to be tortured and killed in one of the most humiliating, cruel, painful, gruesome ways that has ever been devised. The extraordinary word in the previous sentence is: “willing.”  He endured all of this willingly.  Why?  Because He loves us and wanted to make it possible for us to be reconciled to Him.

On Good Friday we humbly, thoughtfully, soberly remember that Jesus took upon Himself all the sins of world and the pain of the cross because of His great love for you and me.  Thank you, Lord Jesus!

No One Has Done For You And I What Jesus Has Done For You And I

No one has ever done for you and I, what Jesus has done for you and I.  No one else ever could, it’s not possible.  On Good Friday, I think about His sacrifice and His love and though the words don’t seem adequate in light of the magnitude of what He has done, I say, “Thank you, Jesus!”
