If you think you love someone and yet your basic inclination
toward the person is: what can he/she do for me? There’s a good possibility it is not
real love you are experiencing. When we
really love a person that love will often involve some measure of service and
sacrifice on our part.
This blog contains comments and teaching regarding living the Christian faith and comments on the intersection of faith and many other aspects of life from pop culture to science. It also has some stories--hopefully they are amusing stories--from my life. ~Dan

The King of Kings Lying In A Manger Says "I Love You!"
Jesus had to humble himself and be a human being in order to
serve as a sacrifice for human beings.
In other words, He had to be human so that we could be forgiven; so that
we could have eternal life. The humility
of Jesus is another aspect of His love for us.
So, when we think of the King of Kings lying in a manger as a humble
baby, remember that is another way of God saying to us, “I love you!”

No One Has Done For You And I What Jesus Has Done For You And I
No one has ever done for you and I, what Jesus has done for you and I. No one else ever could, it’s not possible. On Good Friday, I think about His sacrifice and His love and though the words don’t seem adequate in light of the magnitude of what He has done, I say, “Thank you, Jesus!”

Sacrifice and Commitment and Love
“One of the most common Hebrew terms for love in the Old Testament is ‘ahab’….The term ‘ahab’ expresses itself best through actions of sacrifice and commitment.” ~Breidenbaugh. Hmm, imagine if everyone thought of love in terms of sacrificing on behalf of others and maintaining a commitment to others, despite our vacillating feelings…that seems like it would be a pretty good thing, huh?
