The Bible calls for us to recognize, respect, and even submit to, legitimate authority. [See Rom.13:1-5.] In our culture—and for those who lived through the 60’s—that can be a hard pill to swallow. But even though it can rub us the wrong way, authority has an important role in a society. The exception is when any authority contradicts God. Then we choose God. Always. God comes first!
