Veterans who experienced combat often do not want to talk about the experience. Perhaps this helps us understand—in a very small way—the phrase, “war is hell.”
It is good and right for those of us who have benefited from and enjoyed the freedom provided by their time in “hell” to be grateful.
Isn’t it extraordinary to think that many people we have never even met have served us, some of those folks even giving their lives to serve us?
Again, gratitude is a proper response.
