As we were talking about our plans for later this evening, Nadia made a reference to “Saturday”.
Her sister Paula said, “Saturday? What do you mean Saturday?”
Nadia said, “It’s Saturday, right?”
Paula, “No, today is Friday.”
We’re on vacation and not operating on our usual schedule. So, it’s easy to lose track of the days. For example, twice this week I got confused and told people it was my birthday…and collected cards and presents. (Okay, I wasn’t totally confused.)
Nadia had a genuinely puzzled look on her face, “It is?”
Paula, “Yeah, today’s Friday.”
A big smile began to spread across Nadia’s face as the realization swept over her. She HONESTLY thought today was Saturday. The smile grew even bigger and she started to laugh. Paula started laughing, too.
“It’s Friday, Nadia!!!” said Paula as she and Nadia laughed and high-fived each other.
And, so, there it is. Just like that Nadia got an extra day of vacation. It was Saturday (in her mind)…but no…it’s not Saturday, it’s Friday! A free day. Yeah. A bonus vacation day! Cool.
You say, “Yeah, but Dan, she didn’t REALLY get an extra day, it just FEELS like she got an extra day.”
Shhhhhh!!! Don’t ruin it for Nadia. She’s still grinning from ear to ear.
