This blog contains comments and teaching regarding living the Christian faith and comments on the intersection of faith and many other aspects of life from pop culture to science. It also has some stories--hopefully they are amusing stories--from my life. ~Dan

People Who We Never Imagine Could Change Are Capable of Changing
There are people that folks look at and say, “No way. There’s no way that person could ever
change. There’s no way that person could
ever start living in a spiritually and emotionally healthy way. There’s no way that person could ever come to
Christ. There’s no way that person could
ever come to salvation. It’s just not
possible.”
But according to the Bible, those are the very people that
Jesus looks at and says, “I’ve come to seek and save you.”

The Bible and Transformation
The Bible isn’t supposed to be a book that we study only to
gain historical information or learn ideas about God. The Bible is God’s word that has been given
to move, guide and affect us. The point
of studying God’s word isn’t just to increase our knowledge it is also to
transform our lives. As we come into
contact with God’s word, the Holy Spirit uses it to make us more like Christ.

same. The person is transformed. In fact, this transformation is considered to
be part of the essence of Christianity. “…What
counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.” Galatians
6:15.

A Radical Transformation
Speaking of what happens in the lives of true followers of Christ, the Bible uses language like “transformation” and becoming “a new creation” and “new life in Christ”. In a fundamental way, Christianity is not about sprucing us up a bit, it is about Jesus coming into our lives and, through the Holy Spirit, radically transforming us from the inside out.

God Wants Our Transformation
Sometimes, what we want is not the same as what God wants for us. That idea is expressed well in this quote: “God’s purposes are not the same as ours. We want him to indulge us; he wants to transform us.” Henry & Richard Blackaby
