The Restoration Ministries worship team is going to be joining with some of the singers from our worship team to lead our music this week. I’ve just come from listening in on the rehearsal and I can tell you it is going to be fantastic!

I’m so excited about what I’ve just heard that I can’t hardly wait till Sunday.  

Hmm, let me think about it… it will be about 35 more hours!

And I have the privilege of delivering the fourth message in our series on Heaven. The message is titled: What Will We Do In Heaven?

Dear E-Flash Friends:

What’s the best way to spend Super Bowl Sunday?  That’s an easy question to answer.

First, you get up and come to a thrilling and inspiring church service!  Then you go watch the game.

You thought I might say that, huh? 

I know a lot of people are excited about the Super Bowl but I’m excited because we are starting a new 4-week series this Sunday, February 1^st.  The title of the series is, “Putting First Things First” and it will deal with getting some of the foundational issues in our lives in place.

The first week of the series we will look at something very important Jesus spoke about which is found in Matthew chapter 6, vv. 31 & 32. The title of the message is, “Seek First The Kingdom.”

The worship team is planning some terrific music that will point us to the One who is worthy of our praise. God will be glorified and I believe you will connect with Him if you come.

Also, I’ve had a fairly interesting week and I’ll share a little bit of my experience with you.

You won’t want to miss it!

Dear E-Flash Friends;

Hope you are having a wonderful new year, so far.

I‘m hoping we will make a commitment for 2014 to gather with God’s people and worship the Lord with love, joy, truth and gladness.  That sounds like a good plan, doesn’t it?

On Sunday, January 5^th—the first Sunday of the new year—Chris will be teaching on “The Passover” from the Exodus story.  This is one of the crucial aspects of God’s activity as He delivered His people from slavery in Egypt.  It is an interesting and powerful story.  You won’t want to miss it.

The worship team, as always, will be providing wonderful music to help lead the church in honoring the One who deserves our praise!

Hope you are making plans to be a part of this great time of coming together and worship.

Dear E-Flash Friends;

Jesus said these astonishing words that are recorded in Luke 9:24, “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”  In other words, He is telling us that the way to find true life is to surrender our lives to Him.

If you take Jesus seriously, and I do, this is an extraordinary and reality-altering comment.  Does He really mean this?  Well, I’ve got a great idea: Let’s talk about it this Sunday!

That’s exactly what we will be doing, this Sunday, September 8^th.  I’m really looking forward to the services.  You will want to be here!

E-Flash From Dan, May 31, 2013

Dear E-Flash Friends;

Most of you probably know that the past couple of weeks have been very interesting for me.  I’ve learned that I have some health challenges of which I was previously unaware.  Thankfully, these issues were discovered sooner rather than later and I’m receiving effective treatments (including bionic parts that will make me 10 times stronger than the average man).

I am sincerely grateful for your prayers and kind words of encouragement and support.  Your love has been a source of great joy and help to me and to my family!

This Sunday, June 2^nd, I’m planning to share a couple of thoughts that God has placed on my mind over the past 3 weeks.  He has reminded me of some simple but important truths and I believe He wants me to share them with you.  So, I’m really hoping you are planning to be here.

The worship team has some wonderful music in store for us and I honestly believe that this time together is going to be a powerful God-moment for us.  In fact, why don’t you take little risk and invite a friend?  God is going to be at work and we won’t want to miss it!

Again, please accept my deepest thanks for your love and prayers.  I am blessed to be a part of such a wonderful church and I’m looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!

A Fresh Start And A New Journey

Dear E-Flash Friends;

Powerful things will often happen when a local body of believers gets fired up, motivated, and committed to the work of advancing the church and advancing God’s kingdom.

I can tell you without exaggeration that God has used the church here in Oak Lawn to completely alter the course of my life.  That sounds like I’m laying it on thick, but it is the truth.  And I know that God has used this church to bring positive spiritual change to the lives of many of those who are reading this message.

With that in mind, I hope you will begin praying about our Fall Kick-Off services which are happening on Sunday, September 16^th.  I believe that God is leading us to invite individuals that we know to “A Fresh Start and a New Journey” and I believe that God is leading us, as a church, to be making some fresh starts and renew our journey together with Him.

Will you, please, make this a matter of prayer in your life?

Even now we are looking at offering a new opportunity for learning and spiritual growth on Sunday mornings.  (More details to come.)

Our Children’s Ministry will be launching a new theme designed to teach our kids Bible stories and values in a fun way.

We have been working at retooling our Wednesday night time with a view toward more intentional discipleship.  (We have more details coming on this, as well.)

Our Youth Ministry is working on a special outreach to students.

I’m excited and I’m trusting that God will do mighty things!  We have invitation cards with basic information about our Fall Kick Off services on our literature table.  Please feel free to take those cards and distribute them freely. 

And, again, I’m hoping that we will all make this a matter of persistent prayer.  Pray for the services.  Pray for our church.  Pray for our church leaders.  Pray that we will recognize the truth and power of God in our lives.  Pray that God will bring people our way.  Pray that we will have opportunities to invite. 

Then let’s take the risk of making an invitation.

This is a wonderful church.  I am already believing and trusting that God is going to work through us in some fresh new ways.  Thank you for being a part of it!

E-Flash From Dan -- This Sunday, June 24th

Dear E-Flash Friends;

You know that God can communicate a message using all kinds of different methods, right?  He can even work through supernatural methods.  That’s one of the privileges of being God.  (It’s amazing what you can do when you’re All-Powerful!)  But God frequently uses human messengers to communicate His messages. 

I’m bringing this up because we're going to be looking at a very interesting messenger of God this Sunday, June 24th.  In fact, you could consider this man to be a herald for the coming King.  The man’s name is John.  He’s called John the Baptist because his ministry also involved baptizing people.  What John has to say involves a message that is relevant, encouraging and inspiring for all of us.  I really hope you can come out this Sunday, I know you'll be blessed if you can be here.

The worship team is set to deliver some great music and help us praise God in song.

Also, immediately following the 11 o'clock service (approximately 12:15, or so) I will be having a book signing for my newly published book, "That's A Very Good Question!"  I’m excited to debut the book right here in our church.  Many of you have been tremendously encouraging to me regarding my first effort as an author and I am truly thankful for your support.  Thank you!

(I told Nadia that I would not be storing boxes of books in our basement for the next 15 years, so, if you can be here for the book signing it will be very helpful to me in that regard, as well.)

Did you know that we are starting a brand new preaching series this Sunday, June 3^rd?  It’s true.  We are beginning a new series titled, “A Personal And Powerful Look At Jesus” from the gospel of John.  It’s going to help all of us come to know Jesus better and I’m excited about it!
