Something to ponder for 2025

It is, of course, impossible to know what will happen in the New Year or even in the next day, for that matter. I’m sometimes very uncertain about what will be happening 5 minutes from now. 

I suggest the best way to live, is to be—with His help—consistent with the truth of God and His will for our lives.

Here’s a thought: Consider these helpful words as we ponder the new year that is now underway. (Well, by the time I post this message it will be very close to being underway.)

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I hope and pray that 2025 is a time of joy, spiritual growth, assurance; and blessing for you!

A beautiful truth: Unalienable rights, given by God

There are certain “rights” that were recognized by the founders of the United States to be “unalienable.”

If something is “unalienable” that means it is “impossible to take away or give up…” [Merriam-Webster dictionary]

Why are these rights understood to be unalienable? 

This part is critically important: The rights are unalienable because of their Source. They are given by God. Think of it this way: The government has not given us these rights, God has. Since the rights were not given by the government they cannot be taken away by the government.

This is a beautiful truth. It was, and is, a very insightful truth to include in the Declaration of Independence.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Declaration of Independence, In Congress, July 4, 1776.
