In the Bible, we occasionally find life compared to a race.
An important and helpful aspect of successfully running a race involves looking ahead and striving for the goal which lies in front of us. A runner who is continually turning around and looking back loses time. The runner who continually looks back will be less effective.
Followers of Jesus will find that this truth applies to our pursuit of fullness of life in Christ. A new year is upon us. The Apostle Paul cautions us—it is a caution I, personally, need to heed—to forget about the past and look ahead.
“Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:13-14.
Press on my beloved friends. Forward we go!
