Most of us have a subtle—or sometimes not-so-subtle—tendency
to recreate Jesus in our own image. In
other words, an image that affirms our beliefs, desires, political bent, and
pet theological positions. The goal of
the authentic follower of Jesus, however, is to conform to Jesus and not
flatter ourselves with notions of Jesus conforming to us.
